A-Lounge presents Han Sungwoo’s solo exhibition 《Elusive Horizons》 from November 28 to December 21, 2024. Featuring a total of 23 works, the exhibition goes beyond the traditional concept of landscape and explores new possibilities of scenery formed through the act and process of painting.

The exhibited works are divided into two categories: “scenes” and “sceneries.” Compared to “scenes,” “sceneries” reveal more discernible forms and are more compositional, while “scenes” emphasize brushstrokes and the materiality of paint.

However, these two categories are not completely separate, but hold the possibility of shifting into one another at any time. Some works create subtle connections between reality and imagination through fragments of memory and sensation. These are not simply representations of a specific place or time, but sceneries formed through the process of painting, allowing viewers to recall their own inner landscapes.

This exhibition presents painting itself as a journey, opening up for viewers the possibility of a gaze that expands endlessly. The horizon is an inquiry into an unreachable boundary and a poetic metaphor for a painterly landscape that embraces an incomplete state.
