Lee Eugean Gallery is pleased to present the group exhibition 《Painting Painting》, opening on October 16, featuring works by artists Choi Yoonhee, Chung Zuyoung, Han Sungwoo, Lim Heejae, Park Mirae and WonGi Sul. The title carries the literal meaning of “painted painting”, while also referring to both the act of painting and its outcome, prompting reflection on the language of painting itself.

Centered on abstraction, the exhibition—conceived and curated by WonGi Sul—aims to reveal the rich potential and layered dimensions that painting as a medium continues to offer.

Through the interplay of six distinct perspectives within a shared space, the exhibition underscores abstraction as both a vital inquiry and a fertile possibility in contemporary painting. Whether extending traces of nature into abstraction, or translating repetitive gestures and bodily processes onto the canvas, the artists converge in their exploration of tension, balance, trace, and energy within the language of abstraction.

This exhibition also invites viewers to identify and reflect on these points of convergence. Furthermore, it forms part of a twofold curatorial project that will unfold in continuation with an upcoming exhibition on figurative painting next year.
