Gallery SP presents the group exhibition 《Three Rooms》, featuring artists Rhee Donghoon, Jaeheon Lee, and Jin Han. The exhibition runs from August 22 to September 24, 2024, and showcases 22 works across painting and sculpture. The title references the former residential use of the gallery space and metaphorically connects to the concealed and intimate concept of the “room.”

This exhibition introduces three artists who render the elusive essence of presence through their own visual languages, exploring the boundaries of figuration and abstraction. Rhee Donghoon captures dynamic gestures of living figures in his wooden sculptures, infusing them with painterly materiality.

Jaeheon Lee paints ambiguous human forms and surreal, timeless landscapes using layered gestures of drawing and erasure. In contrast, Jin Han transforms fleeting auditory traces of vanished moments into abstract paintings of form and pattern. While grounded in reality, the artists’ works occupy a liminal zone of semi-abstraction, resisting fixed interpretations.

《Three Rooms》 places these artworks within the intimate setting of a domestic space. Though not literally divided into three separate rooms, the exhibition suggests an allegorical mapping of each artist’s world onto the personal and hidden spaces of life.

This conceptual approach resonates with the building’s history as a former residence. Here, the artworks act as temporary residents, engaging in quiet encounters with each visitor—offering private, introspective experiences in a place once inhabited.
